#ToArthur – Arthur’s Day 2012

I went along to the launch of Arthur’s Day 2012 today in the Guinness Storehouse at St. James’s Gate today. The annual celebration of Arthur Guinness has become synonymous with the best of homegrown and international talent with the likes of the Script, Tom Jones, Snow Patrol and Paolo Nutini. It takes place this year on September 27th and of course the big countdown will be to 17.59pm.

This year’s festival was kicked off today in the Storehouse with an exclusive screening of the new Guinness ‘Paint it Black’ TV Commercial and a performance from ‘Mr Rock & Roll’ singer Amy McDonald.

The line up this year features some class acts from herself to Texas, Fatboy Slim, Professor Green, MIKA and a personal favourite of mine Ellie Goulding. The day of music will spread right across the country with 500 pubs playing host to mystery acts from the line up. In a change from previous years it’s up to you to vote for who you want to play and where you want them to play by voting through the Guinness Facebook page. This added layer of engagement will definitely make people feel more a part of the celebrations.

However, results won’t be known until the night of the event when the Artist walks out on the as voted for stage! I can see groups of mates and communities launching their own campaigns for individual acts to play their town / venue.
There’s more acts to be announced but here’s what was released today –

Example, Tinie Tempah, Ellie Goulding, Mika, Professor Green, Fatboy Slim, Texas, Amy Macdonald, Picture House, Mundy…
